Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach is the largest beach city in Orange County with 9 miles of beautiful shoreline, much of it is state park. It is called by some “surf city”, USA. The beach is one of the safest beached in California.

Although many homes are miles from the shore, the Pacific influence seems to pervade the town. On almost any weekend morning and evening, many residents will be found walking, jogging, or bicycling down along the shore.

As an old established city, Huntington Beach has had decades to build up its parks and amenities and school programs. A large park sits in the middle of the city and spins off into a park corridor that leads down to the shore. There are 57 neighborhood parks plus a Marina and a Wildlife Reserve.

Safe and Stress-Free zone

Huntington Beach is named in a survey as the least stressful city in southern California for kids. The following are several reasons this is true:

  • 12th safest city in the nation among those with more than 100,000 residents
  • Classroom spending per pupil above state average
  • Largest children’s library in the state
  • Highest percentage of persons over age 25 who are high school graduates among California cities with more than 100,000 residents
  •  Designated bike routes on 75% of all city streets
  • Five acres of park space designated for every 5 residences generated by development. Which is 5 times the standard recommended by the National Parks and Recreation Association
  • Consultations with children and youth before inititating programs and building facilities. For example the city included 200 skateboarders aged 7-15 on the design board that planned its skateboard parks.
  • The city’s school district recently received both regional and national recognition with articles in both the Los Angeles Times and Newsweek.

Huntington Beach was also named America’s safest city two years in a row among the nations 100 largest cities! Public safety is the number one priority in this city. Huntington Beach’s new Downtown is filled with unique shops and restaurants. Over 200 cultural and entertainment special events are sponsored each year by the city, this is in addition to the events at the Huntington Beach Playhouse, and the new art center. A brand new 22 screen cinema center is coming soon, that is in addition to several other cinemas in town.
